Thursday
Woke up at quarter to 9 and decided I was too lazy to go to school
Got out of bed 15 minutes later because of guai secondary school upbringing
Sauntered into class half an hour late
All feelings of coolness were swept away when 2 other latecomers strolled in 10 minutes after me
Got through day as per normal, until....
MIDI. Teacher started talking about chord progressions
The ones in the Classical world, cos everyone then used pretty much the same combinations
Then started talking about synthesizers
Got bored
Started playing with Cubase
Decided, for fun, to make a Power Rangers techo piece
Had gotten the flute bit down
Did the drums (a very long and ardous task)
But along the way got distracted and opened another track with piano
Came across some funny (but very nice-sounding) chords
Wrote them in
Played what I had so far, but at that point, I had forgotten I had anything else written down
Flute bit + piano bit = WOW
Ditched the PR idea
Filled in strings bit
And tinkly bells, because I like tinkly bells
Saved everything
Tried to duplicate file, so I could have a spare
File was deleted
Kath cried
Kath cursed Cubase
Kath cursed the Macs
Kath's screams were not heard by the other occupants of the room, as they were all wearing headphones
AngryKath: *to Cubase* You STOLE my file!
OptimisticKath: You'll make another one!
AngryKath: *waving fist* ...I will!
OptimisticKath: A better one!
Kath quickly wrote down what she could remember in notebook/sketchbook/diary
In note letter names, no less!
Kath bitched to poor Mp all the way on home the train
Friday
Got to school early
Worked on her piece
MADE IT!
Was very happy with self
Then exported it for her thumbdrive
So she could save it on her laptop and play at parties to show off :P
When she opened it, found out that the exported file had killed all her instruments
My flute! My strings! My....my...tinkly bells!!!!
However, the music had the nice effect of sounding like an extremely complicated piano piece
Which Kath liked
Since Kath likes confusing the crap out of people
Kath then looked at the clock, and noticed that the CD teacher still hadn't arrived
Kath then decided that the rumour she'd heard last night about there being no CD might have been true
But Kath didn't care, since she had her lovely piece
Saturday
Piano lesson. Ugh
All out of practice
Fingers got stuck
Felt doomed
Exam in December
Oh no!!!!!!
Arranged with cousins and Secondary school buddies to come over for party tomorrow
We were gonna watch Pirates!
Then next week we're gonna watch Pirates 2!
Yahoo!
Fell asleep on sofa
Woke up an hour later, at 3pm
Mp arrived 15 minutes later to do our PW
Was reminded of Primary school by all the colourful playdoh
Hands got yucky and dirty
Cussed at the models for falling apart all the time
Stored in a PPG clock box that I bought 4/5 years ago and never opened
Sunday
Went to church
Was quite an interesting service
Met lots of the Sunday school people there
Wandered around a bit
Had some nice quiet time there
Went for lunch
After lunch bought lots of food from Cold Storage
Went home and saw Queen was waiting outside
She came too early, darnit!
Helped her chimify her report
Jester came soon after
Then Jason
Then Shell
Then heard Elaine wasn't coming
All sat around playing Taiti
I won every round!
Mwahahahaha!!!
Then got phonecall King wasn't coming
All ran upstairs to watch Pirates
Watched Pirates
Wen in and out of room several times to, a. answer phone b. get pepsi c. get pepsi for Queen, d. go to bathroom
Felt bad about walking in front of screen so climbed over sofa and nearly squashed everyone lots of times
After movie was hit by a plotbunny by Shell
Am very excited
Kath wants to write it NOW!!!!!!!!
But regarding the plot, Kath is in the market, as it were
Had lots of fun playing with cats
Still finding a real name for The Big One
Cat had fun playing the leaf-on-a-broom-twig game
Chatted while the guys played ping pong
Almost got hit several times
Said bye to everyone when they left
Today
Got up on time but decided to sleep in
Had a weird dream about garden mazes, showers, old people, and Corpse Bride
Took a taxi to school at 1030
Almost forgot box of clay models and ran back into house to fetch it
Taxi driver was perhaps a bit annoyed
Came to Food Court and sat down with laptop and ice lemon tea
Ice in the tea is rapidly melting
Tea tastes funny today
Waiting for Mp to come out of KEYS and give me a heart attack, just like she always does -_-;;;
All in all, a very profitable 4 days, dontcha think?
PS. Queen - Bring more Subway cookies!!!!!!!!
Jester - You better not back out next week!
Shell - When can we start wriiitiiiing????!!!!!
Elaine - Hope you're feeling better soon....don't get too excited over things, kay?
King - You better come next week!

Grad Concert Day aka Very Long Entry
Thursday, July 06, 2006
Yesterday was the grad concert day. Early start, late finish. Let me enlighten you. Wednesday started cool and fresh for me, at 7 in the morning. Nice and blue time of day it is, just like being back in secondary school. I dawdled a bit, and it was only half past 7 when I realized I had to get moving, or I wasn't going to make the "all DMAT-ers get to school by 8" deadline. Takes me half an hour to get to school. 20 minutes on a good day. On a bad day, well...you don't want to know.
I rushed to school. And for some reason I decided to walk up the hill with the little pedestrian road instead of the stairs, because I thought it might be faster. It was horrible! And worse since I wasn't sure if they were going to make us have classes so I'd packed my laptop and stuff just in case. The road lead me through a T-block and up to the 2nd floor, where I panicked a bit, thinking I was really really late. Called Meipoh wandering around the floor a bit. As it was, she was right downstairs, not 20 metres from where I was standing. Stupid me.
AND, all my rushing around and racing up hills were for naught since I was the third person there: Mp and Ian. I was rather put out by this but I managed to keep it in because I have a very good temper ^_^
A couple more people arrived soon after and we all set off for studio D to carry the stuff down to the plaza. We dumped the keyboards, stands, pedals, powersources and wires into Mr Spicer's car, and he said he'd drive down the hill (I hate that hill!) while we'd race to meet him there with the drums.
It was at that moment when I made my Mistake of the Day. It was said that we could leave our bags in the studio, and we could collect them after everyone was finished. Everyone dumped their bags down, and I did too cos I was tired of carrying it around. I then happily turned my mind to a round of stuff-carrying, assuming I wouldn't have to lug my bag around for the rest of the day.
Little did I know, everyone sneakily picked up their bags and carried it down to the place with the drums (how they managed that I have no idea), while mine sat on the little wooden bench all by itself. Then the key turned into the lock and it was goodbye, baggie for the rest of the day.
A nice marching band we made, but none of the normalschoolday-ers seemed to think it was anything out of the ordinary. Got to the place and dumped the drums on the stage. Then went to unload the car. I got into a battle with a vicious keyboard stand. But I discovered its weakness. Hit the green button, Kath! Poof! KeyboardStand was defeated! You get 2250 EXP!
We were all hot and sweaty, and we’d reached the worst part of it: the sitting around. No one was coming to see us; one of the grad guys opened the Big Doors of the Glass Building Next To the MRT Station that looks Oh-So-Important several times. Very suspenseful, it was.
Then finally! The music started. Yay!
8 songs later then it was time for my group's song. I have only one thing to say. Loud. I swear, halfway through the piece my ears felt like they had pillows stuffed in them. And the stuffed-in feeling stayed there for like 10 minutes afterwards. But I had fun, even if I couldn’t really hear myself.
Even the sound crew liked us! I need to find more people to jam with.
The happy feeling lasted for a quite a bit after we got off stage, and settled back to watch the rest of the concert. Went upstairs and chatted to Grace and Raymond for a bit. Then came word that the FOOD area for performers/helpers was OPEN!
Zoom.
I liked their punch. It was so nice and sweet, and it was a pretty-looking pink colour. In the 2-hour break that followed I must have had 10 cups or more. Yummy punch. I like it so much! I want some more!
Ahem.
After a few more cups of punch (yummy!) I felt a bit more energized, but my mind was bored. I'd done my bit, I could go home now and drown myself in Guild Wars. Finally got the thing to work. And Jas doesn't seem to be playing very much now.
But then I realized: in order to go home I need => money, money => wallet, wallet => bag, bag =>studio, studio => ...locked. Cue panic attack.
The key was with one of the seniors, and he was nowhere in sight. I ran back to Computerland to see if anyone else had gone to get their bags (I didn't know I was the only idiot who’d left her stuff there at the time -_-;;;), kicked the door a bit, ran away when the security guard came around, hunted around for any seniors, then went back to the plaza.
Afternoon session started a while later, and I just sat there and stoned. I didn't find it that exciting, and I had more important things (bag) on my mind. I did the above a second time at some point, so much did it bother me, but with the same results. Sat around some more.
(we interrupt this programme to give you time to laugh at the idiot that is Kath) Go on, you know you want to -_-;;;
And did more walking since the SSA called me and asked why I hadn't picked up my Ezcard yet. Why? Because I'd been thinking of other stuff at the time, and it must have slipped my mind. I trekked all the way there, was turned away when I couldn't produce any means of identification, and ended up cussing all the way back to the stage place.
Fortunately, soon after I got back I saw the key (I mean, Ian walking towards the watercooler. Chased after him and got the key!
Da da da DA! You got the Studio D Key! This Key will unlock nasty doors that prevent you from getting important items ie, bags. Equip it with x.
Ran back and got my bag! Then I got my card! I was so happy!
Thought about going home, but seniors said the evening slot would be really good, and I had no plans for the day so why not?
Used laptop a bit, then went to food area and drank more punch. They still had enough for 20 more cups for 3 thirsty DMAT 1st years. Sat around with Meipoh and Raymond and had competition to see who could jump up onto the wall.
Evening slot was supposed to start 2 hours after the afternoon (at 630), but we all knew by then it'd be delayed for about an hour or more. Those three hours consisted mostly of drinking punch. This time it was orange instead of pink. The pink was nicer but orange wasn’t so bad.
The evening people were pretty good. Lot more rock songs, and the bands were mostly made up of guys. In the morning there were almost no guy singers, but at night they all came out with the rock songs.
There was lots of smoke, and had lots of colourful lights. The disco ball came into play here. I love disco balls, they're so shiny.
But all good things have to come to an end, and it was time for everyone to go home or, in our case, pack up. Very tiring, carrying stuff off the stage, and those drums needed to be carried back up to the studio. But we finished, locked the door, and headed for the plaza to get our stuff.
But wait, the story's not done yet!
They all were going to go out for supper in Holland Village, and ice cream at Swensen's afterwards. Sounded like lots of fun.
Took a bus to HV, and walked two-by-two like primary school kids into the village. Went into Burger King. Was full of punch so had fries and a coke, and had fun watching James get stuff thrown at him. (Stand up, stand up! XD)
Then went into Swensen's, and were informed by the staff that their last order was at 1015 (just a mere half-hour away!) so we had to hurry. Sat right at the back of the restaurant, away from all other diners (I wonder why?), next to the toilets. Wasn't feeling very hungry, so didn't order anything. But Stephen and I didn't feel bad about stealing some of James and Ian's Topless Five.
I know what you’re thinking, and everyone else at the table was thinking it too. A shirt almost came off but I managed not to look at the horrible sight :P
The guys at the other end of the table decided to have a toast.
…Were then very kindly told by the waiters to shut up.
In spite of getting scolded, we made more toasts: to the DMAT couples, to DMAT, to SP, to the grad concert, to the people who didn't want to come out for supper... blahblahblah.
Then ice cream came! Woohoo! Stole some of the paddlepop scoop on top! Had some of the lime sorbet/sherbet(?) and the yellow ones (durian?). Dropped some ice cream into Ian's water! Hahaha! But then he stole my water...-_-
The other end of the table got an Earthquake! The one with the smoke! I love smoky ice cream! So fun to play with 8D
Mixed the lime and yellow scoops together to make a puddle of wasabi-looking stuff, but it was eaten up pretty quickly 0.o I tried some, and it tasted funny.]
Finally got out of Swensen's with no casualties, and with minimal water (and blood) on the walls. Walked to nearest busstop and went back to the MRT. A couple of them went back in cos Rain had lost her water bottle, so everyone else waited outside. Seeeee?! We are so united. Oh yeah ;)
Looked around for security guards while some of the guys started playing with the gate. The water bottle-hunting group came back, but with no waterbottle. Sad.
Then it was time for everyone to get home. What was the time? Oh no! 11pm!
Split up cos half the group lived on the way to Boon Lay and the other half (including me) lived towards Pasir Ris/Changi. Everyone must have been really full and sleepy by then, cos we were all super quiet.
20 minutes later, I got to my stop, went home, went for a bath, then went to bed.
And I was late for school today.
More on that tomorrow. Goodnight!
I rushed to school. And for some reason I decided to walk up the hill with the little pedestrian road instead of the stairs, because I thought it might be faster. It was horrible! And worse since I wasn't sure if they were going to make us have classes so I'd packed my laptop and stuff just in case.
