Blargh

I was just mulling around, nothing really fun to do when I came upon to a link to a site. After spending a considerable amount of time on the activity there, I came up with the following.

Yes, I am aware that My. House. Sucks. I wasn't really putting that much effort into it, just doing the generic box-with-a-triangle-on-top house that any kindergarden kid can cook up. Then I saw all these nice looking drawings done by people who were much more creative, and clearly had more time than I did.

I'm back!!!!!

Sunday, December 18, 2005

Wow, it's been a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time since my last post, and during that large gap I have done lots of things. Some nice, some horrible, some fun, some WEIRD. I don't feel in a write-y mood and am tempted to put everything down in point form but for the sake of (possible) future reference will try to be as clear as possible and write everything out, boring-essay style.

Came back from the Apple exactly 2 weeks ago. Shit, it's so cold there. And the pizzas are enormous. Family went to a pizza joint with our cousins who were studying there, and each slice is like two and a half times bigger than one back home. They have lots of cheese on em too. We even went to the pizza place that was in Spider-Man! Was puzzled at first cos in the movie it was featured in a busy part of the city and was at the corner, while this one had other restaurants on both sides and was in a rather quiet neighbourhood.

Parents made us go shopping EVERY DAY. I don't like shopping. It's a waste of time and energy and it's so painful to see your money going away. But for the sake of my WONDERFUL friends (all of whom I am sure got me equally wonderful stuff from the places they went to), I went out into the cold and got them stuff.

And I felt bloated ALL the time. Maybe it was the jetlag, maybe it was the huge portions of food, but I could go through one day on half or less of what I had for breakfast. It was just as well for my brothers, cos they're the ones who are always eating. One of them could get through a big plate of bacon-and-eggs, a plate of French toast, and still get through 2 more meals. Which is extremely thick, one slice is about...I dunno, maybe 3 centimetres thick.

Saw some stuff on Broadway, too. I really enjoyed Phantom of the Opera, I wanna watch it again:D Beauty and the Beast was pretty good too, but they had some extra songs which I thought were a bit "blah", but it had more funny bits than the cartoon. Lumiere was frickin funny.

They also had a Hershey's shop somewhere there. It was nice and warm inside and there was all the chocolate everywhere *drools* I think they had some flavours that weren't even released in Singpore (yet). Like the Smartie-esque kisses. I got a stuffed kiss from there, cos it felt nice and squishy like my stuffed starfish which I thought needed some company. Although the kiss was faceless, I decided it needed a name, and since it looked like a shit, I settled for convenience and called it how I saw it. Shit now has a place of honour on my bedside table.

Once I got back, it didn't seem so hard to readapt to Singapore time, most probably because I had had many late nights in NY. The time difference between here and there is about thirteen hours, so since it's 7 in the evening here, it should be 6 in the morning over there.

Now, since I've decided to do my flashbacking backwards, the next main event would be my school's prom. It was pretty cool, booking a hotel room with a couple of friends. Learned a few things about makeup, the only thing I know how to put on is lipstick cos you just kinda smear it over your mouth. I admit I felt rather...underdressed compared to everyone else, but I guess I should have expected that. The theme was Masquerade, of course people are going to go for extreme makeovers! Majority of people were wearing sleek black strapless or strapful evening gowns and I even caught someone looking like she was cosplaying Cruella de Vil.

(Wow, it seems I am in a write-y mood!)

Took lots of photos, though not sure how they all came out because the room was quite dark. No, I'm not going to be posting any up here to protect the identity of my tablemates. I can describe how they looked pretty well, I suppose. Mwahaha...

The Person on my Left
Was wearing a very sexy blue/green dress with very sexy tights. And high heels. Hair was like the girl's in the Lux commercial. Had flower painted on face. She looked like a Moulin Rouge can-can girl and she didn't seem too thrilled when I told her so.

Person on her Left
Was one of two people (I think) not to wear a dress! She was wearing a purple shawl over a V-necked tank top and a long skirt. Lent her some jewellery I had the foresight to bring due to me being such a GIVING person. Had hair in a high ponytail which looked like a bun. On anyone else it would have come off as auntie-ish, but she actually looked pretty good.

Person next to her
Had a bright pink shawl and was wearing a very nice pink top with a cowl and a long black skirt. About 15 minutes before we went down she was convinced she looked like a teacher (not really, but kinda...*hides*). One of roomies managed to ammend this by giving her a ponytail.

And on her Left
Had on a pretty white halter-neck dress. Was strange as I had gotten accustomed to seeing her (as well as everyone else) in school uniform.

(Sorry if descriptions are thinning out. These people were sitting almost opposite me so I couldn't really see what their clothes looked like)

Her Neighbour
Was in a black dress with a really cool necklace cos it was so drapey and cool.

Who was sitting next to a really Egotistical Person
Who was in a floaty purple dress and purple butterflies painted all over her. She made me take lots of photos of her

And on her Left
Sat someone in a strapless dress in a really nice shade of maroon. She didn't talk to me much that evening, probably cos we were really far away.

Who was sitting next to
Someone who was the only one wearing a top which covered their forearms. Not that that's a bad thing. Different is good.

Who was seated beside
An empty chair, because she had pulled out for reasons I cannot say, because I do not know.

And lastly, the Person on my Right
Because we have come full circle. She was in a nice flowy blue gown with an asymmetrical top with dangly straps. Her hair was real sparkly, too. Apparently, during the hours of hectic preparation she had paid a visit to someone else's room where they had employed the help of a hair stylist (or was it a makeup artist?) who put glitter into everyone's hair. For a fee, of course. I would've gone, but by the time I came I was too late:(

And that's everyone. Well, the prom was...not what I expected. I imagined it to be more fun, more magic, and more of my friends around. Ah well, at least the food was nice, and I have all these photos and videos which I can use...for blackmail...fufufu...

After that I went back up and while the others wanted to go out and maybe catch Zathura, I prudently opted to go to bed so that I could get up early, for I had a plane to America to catch. It was very nice and peaceful, but I only got about an hour of sleep before they all came back. At least I got the bed, and weren't like the poor sods stuck on the floor.

I was flying alone, cos I wanted to stay for the prom, so my brothers and p-p-parents went off first, and I had a few days of blessed peace. Was very tempted to throw a party, as exams were over. Which brings us to the next big thing.

O LEVELS ARE DONE OMG!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 *faints*

The last paper was chemistry, so it meant that my single-science friends had a day extra of holiday, and they said they were going to watch Harry Potter. I was a bit miffed, cos I wanted to go with them. HOWEVER. My church (?!) had been selling charity tickets for that movie, and my mum had gotten a few, so hey, why not invite em along?

It took several days to track everyone down, as I could never find any of the guys, but eventually managed to rope everyone in.

The chem exam caused me a great deal of anxiety. No, it wasn't the studying issue, it was the matter of time management. For some reason, I read the deadtime of 17.37 as 4.37, and so by the time 4.28 arrived I was panicking, thinking I wasn't going to finish and was going to fail when in actual fact only half an hour had passed. I think I caused the people surrounding me psychological damage, as that was the fastest chemistry paper I had ever done. It was kinda weird, doing questions for it in an answer booklet instead of on foolscap. I remember the Either/Or questions seemed impossibly hard at first, but then I saw the word "Draw" and then it was A-OK. Electrolysis, electrolysis, I love you.

The funnest part was colouring in the pie-chart for some question on the uses of fossil fuels or something. It was the easiest, as it merely involved shading. Did all sorts of patterns, from cross-hatching to hearts to smiley-faces.

It's okay if I talk about the papers now that the exams are over, right?

Well, now that all the interesting stuff in the past has been covered, let's flash-forward, to now.

Yesterday mum made me go appeal at JCs whose names I am not going to put down so that people do not get the wrong idea of me. It was very enlightening to see the place where I'm going to spend 2 years (or not).

Since I think I'm running out of space I'll make lists of activities I did.

Movies/shows I watched:
-The Pha(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)ntom of the Opera
-Spider-Man
-Spider-Man 2
-Batman Begins
-LOTR 1, 2,and 3, twice + Commentaries + Special Features
-Pirates of the Caribbean + Commentaries + Special Features
-Moulin Rouge
-Star Wars
-Pokemon
-Yugioh Battle City
-Yugioh the Movie
-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in every available dubbed language on the plane (right after English, Japanese is the next best)
-RoboMan exe
-Shrek
-Shrek 2
-Lost (yay!) + Commentaries + Special Features
-Edward Scissorhands
-Big Fish
-Sonic X
-Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Well, I have been busy. Much as I'd like to post my review on Harry and Kong, I think I'd better shut up cos anyone who's gotten this far must be reeeeeallly bored.
